Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation. Every week we are highlighting one of the stories our employees who went on an exchange. In this blogpost we cover the Quest story of Sanjay Angan who traveled from Mumbai to London, UK.
Why did I apply for a Quest
I applied for Quest for several reasons, most important I wanted to learn and clearly understand how the UK team works with each other and its clients. I wanted to better understand the Arcadis UK Business Advisory approach, the business and cultural environment in UK, as well as strengthen the relationship between GEC Mumbai and the UK region. Additionally on a more personal professional level, I wanted to build and further develop good working relationships with the team and familiarize with the kind of work they do, and was also interested in further developing my technical and business consulting skills during my Quest.
“We shared knowledge and discussed ways of working to strengthen the bond between GECs and the UK region. Building relationships across regions and enabling global collaboration is something that stood out to me during my Quest.”
Highlight of my quest experience
The main highlights of my exchange include:
- having the opportunity to work with the UK team on a daily basis
- building relationships with the Business Advisory team
- getting to know my colleagues abroad
Another of the highlights of my trip was being able to meet the delegates of US Business Advisory team who were in London to attend a workshop on Arcadis’ Digital Strategy. I really got the opportunity to meet a wide variety of international colleagues through the Quest exchange.
My Quest in one word
“I would say ‘collaboration’!”
Learnings and experiences
The Quest exchange gave me extra motivation and and boosted my self-confidence to have a positive impact on the team after I returned to my home office in Mumbai. From a more business perspective, the understanding of the UK culture, the BA methodologies and practices will enable better communication between the UK team and our office in Mumbai. Additionally, the established relationships with the UK team will break down the communication barriers when working together on future projects.
