Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation. Every week we are highlighting one of the stories our employees who went on an exchange. In this blogpost we cover the Quest story of Jasper de Lange who traveled from Amersfoort (the Netherlands) to Atlanta (USA).
Why did I apply for a Quest
After having worked for three years as Development Lead in the Global Business Line Infrastructure out of the Netherlands, I felt a strong ambition to expand my world and work abroad for a while. I decided to apply for a Quest in September 2016 to Atlanta and New York. It gave me a great opportunity to meet local staff, improve collaboration and explore the potential for a career at Arcadis North America. Now, almost a year later, I got relocated to Atlanta; thanks Quest!
“Quest gave me a great opportunity to position for relocation to Arcadis US. And it worked, I’m here now!”
Highlight of my quest experience
Next to meeting all local staff in Atlanta and New York City, one of the highlights was a visit to a Georgia Tech football game, where we had a nice seat in the president’s suite. Besides that cycling through New York City is a great experience as well. It allowed me to bring some Dutch tradition to the US.
Learnings and recommendations
My biggest learning is: “Say YES to new adventures”. You need to be proactive, enthusiastic and embrace the challenge to work internationally! If you have any international ambition you MUST do a Quest. Meeting face-to-face with international colleagues is a strong driver to improving collaboration and making Arcadis a truly global company.
