Blog – Seeing the results of 3D models in Jacksonville USA

14 Julho 2017

Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation. Every week we are highlighting one of the stories our employees who went on an exchange. In this blogpost we cover the Quest story of Ashwin who traveled from Bangalore in India to Jacksonville, USA.

Why did I apply for a Quest

My line manager advised me to  apply for the Quest to broader my horizon. I believe that with the help of GEC Expansion we are already working on increasing collaboration between the two offices from  different regions. Additionally the Quest exchange creates a more unique opportunity to learn, develop and support on different ongoing cross-border projects. The Quest allowed me to better understand the procedures, culture, principles followed by the client to meet the requirements.

Highlight of my quest experience

Honestly, it was a very good experience working with the local team in the US, but I got also the opportunity to learn many new things, including design procedures and the way of delivering the outputs to our clients. It will help me and team in India in supporting the client in a better and efficient way now and in the future.

My Quest in one word

“A fantastic experience!”

Learnings and experiences

I learned new design principles and procedures from the team in Jacksonville. I also got an opportunity to visit the site of one of the projects. It was very impressive to see the result of the 3D model of the Project Road developed by teams from two different regions. It was a great experience to see and understand the difference between the actual site conditions and the design in the software.

I would recommend familiarize you with your colleagues, and become part of the team. Try to focus on communication, collaboration and learning on new things during your exchange. But, don’t forget also to share your experience with the colleagues you are visiting and your team when you get back home.
