BLOG – Magdalena Rzempala experienced the life of an American architect through Quest

Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation. Every week we are highlighting one of the stories our employees who went on an exchange. In this blogpost we cover the Quest story of Magdalena Rzempala who traveled from Warsaw in Poland to Los Angeles in the USA.

Think big, dream big!

Why did I apply for a Quest

My name is Magdalena Rzempala from Warsaw, Poland, and I applied for Quest to gain knowledge from our architectural friends at Callison RTKL.
I wanted to know how it is to be an architect in America and to see the daily routines of the American Arcadis life. It has always been my dream to work in America, even if it is just for a week.

Highlight of my Quest experience

For one week I was a part of the architectural team in Callison RTKL LA. I took part in a site inspection of one of the biggest CRTKL projects in LA – Oceanwide Plaza. I also took part in team brainstorming. During my stay, I watched how the team prepared for the workshops. We also had a lunch together and also spend a great amount of time together after work. We talked about architecture and the life of an architect, which turned out to be very similar around the world.

Learnings and experiences

It’s was a wonderful experience. I gained a lot of knowledge.
Besides learning about issues the team is dealing with, I also spend a great amount of time with Gosia, my host.  She impressed me with her commitment, engagement and spirit; which is definitely something worth mentioning.

Last but not least, the Quest experience made me realize first hand that Arcadis is a global company in which I feel very much at home.
