Blog – Nina created powerful global connections through Quest

01 juin 2017

Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation. Every week we are highlighting one of the stories our employees who went on an exchange. In this blogpost we cover the Quest story of Nina Licad who traveled from Makati City to Amsterdam. Nina wrote also an article on the Loovinklaan website which you can read here.

Why did I apply for a Quest

I applied for Quest so I can learn more about the heritage of the business, the opportunity to visit and work in different Arcadis offices, visit some noted projects that Arcadis has done in the region, and the chance to meet my colleagues from the EU Marketing & Communications and Shelter Program Teams.

“My Quest experience gave me a deeper sense of collaboration between our global and regional social media channels!”

Highlight of my quest experience

My Quest experience gave me a deeper sense of collaboration between our global and regional social media channels. Aside from meeting a number of global and regional communication as well as Shelter Program colleagues from Arcadis UK, Arcadis NV, Arcadis Nederland & Arcadis BV it was nice to have the opportunity spending time with them in different places including Amsterdam, Amersfoort, The Hague, Arnhem and Paris. I also got the chance to take photos of a number of Arcadis projects in The Netherlands, and take part in collaborative meetings tackling user-friendly strategies for use on the global social media channels such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Wikipedia, YouTube, Vimeo and Google  – promoting the Arcadis brand, our people, and most of all, our success using the best means possible.

My Quest in one word

“To sum up … it was an UNFORGETTABLE experience!”

Learnings and experiences

Because of Quest, I learned the power of face-to-face collaboration which creates quicker results instead of exchanging online conversations. Moving forward, I was able to learn about the views of many colleagues regarding the importance of digital media in the business and we are hoping for the discussed strategies to be implemented in the near future.

Aside from asking previous Quest participants before planning your trip, make sure to align the budgets provided with both your home and host regions. Do your best to meet as many people as possible. I can say that aside from doing my actual work, I used my free time to discover and understand the culture of the region where I visited. Most of all, make sure to HAVE FUN too! You won’t regret it!
