Reinforcing Our Commitment to Sustainability

In addition to being a board member of the Lovinklaan Foundation, I have the privilege of overseeing the Sustain Abilities program. Today, I’m excited to share the story of our program’s evolution, successes, and future plans as we celebrate our continued collaboration.
Origins: Building a Sustainable Vision
The Sustain Abilities Program began with a simple yet powerful idea: to create a learning-recognition-reward system that would encourage Arcadians to advance their knowledge of sustainability. The initial vision underwent several transformations, but our core mission remained unchanged. We aimed to equip Arcadians worldwide with the foundational skills and tools needed to embrace sustainability in their work. Our focus was on creating a unified language and approach that could be applied universally by Arcadians, no matter where they are located.
In the early stages, we saw a growing need to centralize various platforms. This led us to host all learning content on the Learning Experience Platform (LXP), providing an integrated learning environment for all Arcadians.
Success Stories: Impacting Arcadis and Beyond
Since the inception of the Sustain Abilities Program, we have received a lot of helpful feedback. One of the most impactful aspects has been the creation of modules by Arcadians for Arcadians. This approach ensures that the learnings are practical, relevant, and directly applicable to our projects. It has fostered a sense of ownership and connection among participants, enhancing the overall effectiveness of the program.
The positive ripple effects of our program extend beyond Arcadis. By fostering a culture of sustainability within our company, we contribute to the broader community and our industry’s sustainable future. Our colleagues’ stories and testimonials highlight the real-world impact of our efforts, reinforcing our commitment to making a difference.
Lovinklaan Foundation: A Pillar of Support
From the very beginning, the Lovinklaan Foundation has been a crucial supporter of the Sustain Abilities Program. The financial backing from the Foundation enabled the design and translation of modules 1 and 2, making them accessible in four languages: Brazilian Portuguese, French, German, and Simplified Chinese. This has been instrumental in ensuring that our program reaches and resonates with Arcadians worldwide.
With Lovinklaan’s continued support, we can focus on the development and translation of more modules, ensuring that Arcadians have the resources they need to excel. In the coming year, we will add more translations for modules 5 to 8, expanding our reach even further.
The partnership between Arcadis and the Lovinklaan Foundation has also been a cornerstone of the Sustain Abilities Program. Throughout its development, the Lovinklaan workgroup and the Arcadis Global Sustainability team have collaborated closely, testing content, recommending monitoring metrics, and facilitating translations. This deep involvement has been vital in co-creating an ambitious and effective program.
Looking Ahead: The Future of Sustain Abilities
As Arcadis moves forward, sustainability continues to be a central focus for the business and its clients. It plays a significant role in the new strategy for 2024-2026. The goal is for 35% of Arcadians worldwide to complete modules 1 and 2 by 2024.
To all Arcadians, your participation is crucial to achieving this target. By completing the modules and sharing your experiences, you can help foster a culture of sustainability within Arcadis.
