Blog – Learning about Asian investors in the UK since ‘Brexit’

My Quest Experience

Picture4 HKDarren Norman went on a Quest experience from the UK to Hong Kong.

Why did I apply for a Quest

The reason why I applied for a Quest was that I was particularly interested in learning more about Asian investors and their interests in the UK. Especially since ‘Brexit’ and the cultural barriers they may face when investing in the UK. One certainty with the falling British Pound Sterling currency, is prime residential units becoming more affordable and a surge in foreign investment due to the re-cent changes in the market.

Highlight of my Quest experience

During my Quest experience I had several highlights. My personal highlights included a rooftop viewing of the Hong Kong light-show, watching the sunset on the famous Victoria Peak, visiting Temple Street Market, Hawker Street Food, the infamous Wanchai and Lan Kwai Fong, and the Oktoberfest beer festival at Happy Valley Racecourse. These experiences I will never forget.

My learnings and recommendations

One thing I definitely learnt are the importance of cultural barriers which are likely to face Arcadis with the increased demand from Asian investors following ‘Brexit’. Asian investors are multifaceted and different. I will take this cultural barriers into account during my day-to-day work.

Quest is a one-off opportunity that is available to everyone within Arcadis. It enables you to travel and and experience new cultures in a setting that is new, challenging and exciting. I would definitely recommend every Arcadian to apply for a Quest!

Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation
