My Quest Experience

Marcin Ćmielewski went on a Quest experience from Poland, Europe to the Gold Coast, Australia.

IMG_2976Why did I apply for a Quest

I applied for a Quest to expand my knowledge on the hydrological and hydraulic engineering topics. To get a better understanding of knowledge solutions focused on water management in other parts of the world, but mainly in the Gold Coast, Australia was the main purpose of my Quest. Besides that I wanted to get to know the water management team in person as well.

Highlight of my Quest experience

The highlight of my Quest experience was really about getting to know people who are dealing with water management in other parts of the world, mainly Australia. While experiencing their daily activities I can say that it definitely has been a unique experience. Not only to exchange experiences in the field of water management, but also learning from another region, who are dealing with e.g. a complete different climate, allowed me to expand my personal knowledge and skills which I will take back to Poland and share among my team as we continue to work together.

Unique experience!

My learnings and recommendations

The learnings I definitely want to implement in my daily work in Poland are some tools (IT) that my colleagues in Australia use in their daily work. Next to that I really like their working style. The way I saw it was that they are open to people, gathering new experiences and wiling to learn about the world. I will definitely take this home with me and I can recommend everybody to be open for new experiences and learn about what is going on in the world.
