Blog – Corrie shared best practices with her European co-workers

12 May 2017

Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation. Every week we are highlighting one of the stories our employees who went on an exchange. In this blogpost Corrie Chwalek traveled from Raleigh (USA) to Rome (Italy) and tells us about her Quest experience.

Why did I apply for a Quest

The main reason to visit was to share knowledge of a successful client program model across regions. I went to Italy to show our European colleagues how to operate as a Prime Vendor, as it will help us expand our services with ExxonMobil. I was also able to attend the annual European account team meeting, and got a better understanding of their projects and programs.

“We shared ideas, best practices, lessons learned, and country updates with each other. We also shared some amazing meals too!”

Highlight of my quest experience

One of the highlights of my trip was that I was able to get to know other ExxonMobil team members from Italy, France, Germany, Belgium, and the UK. We shared ideas, best practices, lessons learned, and country updates with each other. We also shared some amazing meals too!

My Quest in one word

‘Collaboration’ sums up my Quest Experience in one word.

Learnings and experiences

Professionally, one of the biggest learnings is to realize each country operates differently and each client is unique. Although a program could be ideal, you need to be able to adapt its concept to the needs of the specific circumstances and needs of the client or project manager. Additionally, when you go on an Quest exchange make sure to plan an informal gathering, outing, or team building exercise with you co-workers. This helps you to get to know the people better and will enhance communication and future networking.
