BLOG – Asia La Chapelle Williams’s sustainable journey through Singapore

26 January 2018

Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation. Every week we are highlighting a story of one of our employees who went on an exchange. In this blogpost we cover the Quest story of Asia La Chapelle Williams who traveled from London (UK) to Singapore.

Why did I apply for a Quest

I applied for my Quest to Singapore because I wanted to learn more about the business lines in the region and learn how Arcadis’ sustainability values are applied to projects there. Singapore is a regional hub and therefore there are many international projects conducted from this location.

“Quest was an informative and exciting opportunity to engage in!”

Highlight of my Quest experience

Highlights from my Quest experience include learning more about Singapore’s Greenmark standard, which is a sustainability rating related to all new developments in the country. Also, an interesting  thing about my Quest experience was the site visit to a Hotel project across the border in Malaysia!

My Quest in one word

“Educational”

Learnings and experiences

I learned a lot about Singapore’s sustainability initiatives through site visits and from the local team. Furthermore, I attended the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) – an agency under the Ministry of National Development, championing the development of an excellent built environment for Singapore – to learn more about their sustainability initiatives. My greatest advice for any Arcadian would be to reach out to your colleagues not only in the team you are working in, but also across the business in the region so you have opportunities to learn about other teams and strategic activities.
