19 juli 2018

Quest is an international transfer program which connects Arcadians from all over the world. Quest is sponsored by the Lovinklaan Foundation. Every week we are highlighting one of the stories our employees who went on an exchange. In this blogpost we cover the Quest story of Amber Vick who traveled from Chattanooga in the state of Tennessee in the US to Amersfoort in the Netherlands.

Why did I apply for a Quest

My name is Amber and I work as a drafting technician at the Arcadis office in Chattanooga, Tennessee. While helping my team transition into a more digital workflow, I realized we could use some insight from teams working on similar projects that have already began transitioning to digital.I therefore decided to apply for a Quest exchange and ended up going to the city of Amersfoort in the Netherlands.

Highlight of my Quest experience

I was lucky enough to see different aspects of a large-scale project managed in many different ways that can all be tied together through BIM. From modeling, to data collection, to site visits and team meetings, I was able to see many of the key steps in a vast process.

Learnings and experiences

I learned to never underestimate the value of solid networking. This Quest has taught me that Arcadis is full of brilliant people, and staying connected enriches everyone’s experience.

I would advise future Questees to definitely invest time and effort into finding the right host! The best host will connect with you both in the office and outside of the office.
